CONNECT GO is a feature added by Synergy SKY as another way of joining your meetings. This way of joining does not require calendar integrations in the traditional sense. It utilizes the user's own calendar as a way of selecting and joining the meetings after scanning a QR code on your video endpoint. This QR code is reached by dialling your own unique number*.
Configuring/Enabling this feature is dependant on the first usage. Some example flows are shown below.
*One number per company, which can connect any user to any meeting as each QR code is unique per session.
Enable Feature - Admin First Approach
This is the easiest flow and is therefore recommended by Synergy SKY if you wish to enable this feature in your organization. If a user with (Azure/Entra) admin privileges is the first to scan the QR code, they will first sign in to their calendar on their mobile device and see the following screen:
After consenting with this screen, the user (and optionally the whole organisation) will then be able to use the feature with no addition configuration.
Enable Feature - User First Approach
Should a user without (Azure/Entra) admin privileges scan the QR code first. They may need to request admin consent. After signing in with their M365 account, approval request will look like this screen:
Application Consent and Permissions
The approval and consent flow depends on which of the 3 options you have enabled in your organisation. This setting is global, not unique to Synergy SKY or CONNECT GO. As an Admin, follow the steps below to find out which setting you have enabled and read further to find out how to enable CONNECT GO with those options.
Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center:
- Navigate to https://entra.microsoft.com/
- Log in with an account that has the necessary permissions
(Global administrator or Groups Administrator).
Navigate to Consent and permissions
- Select Applications in the left hand pane
- Select Enterprise Applications
- Select Consent and permissions
-
Do not allow user consent
This means that an admin must consent after a user requests permission on first time use. -
Allow user consent for apps from verified publishers, for selected permissions
If the required permissions (“User.Read” and “Calendars.Read”) are designated as low impact, it will follow the third "Allow user consent for apps" scenario. Or else it will require the same admin consent procedure as with the first "Do not allow user consent" option. -
Allow user consent for apps
This means that users can consent for themselves without admin authorization.
Do not allow user consent
When a user first scans the QR code then logs in to their calendar. They will have to request admin authorization to use the app. Depending how you have configured your own tenant. This will appear in "consent requests", an email or both. (Shown below)
In Entra: (Use the search bar to find Admin consent requests)
In your admin's email inbox:
Accept this request either, for the user that is requesting it, or for the organization as a whole.
Allow user consent for apps from verified publishers, for selected permissions
With this option in your organization you will need to the delegate “User.Read” and “Calendars.Read” as low impact. To do this:
Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center:
- Navigate to https://entra.microsoft.com/
- Log in with an account that has the necessary permissions
(Global administrator or Groups Administrator).
